1952

Local and family-owned since 1952 when founded by the late Joseph Koury, Koury Corporation has quietly and steadily transformed the landscape of Greensboro, North Carolina.

1993

Joe Koury’s “grandest” vision yet beckoned; to develop the 1,500 acres of land he had acquired over 30 years in the Sedgefield area of Guilford County. Still referring to it as “the Sedgefield Project” in a 1993 interview he states, “in a short while you are going to see a golf course here, and then you will see a town blossoming”. Soon after, the name “Grandover” was conceived. The East Course, the first of two championship gold courses opened in March 1996. Just over a year later the West Course opened in May 1997. The courses are open to the public daily.

1997

Atlantic Coast Conference moves its headquarters to Grandover. The facility would later expand multiple times to accommodate the conference’s explosive growth.

1999

Grandover Resort and Conference Center opens with 247 guest rooms, 45,000 square feet of meeting space, and is touted as Greensboro’s first AAA Four Diamond Award hotel. The resort encompasses 1,500 acres of manicured lawns and woodlands, two 18-hole championship golf courses, tennis, fine dining, conference center, day spa and indoor/outdoor pool.

2001

It is the focal point of Koury Corporation’s 86 acre mixed-use commercial development, surrounded by the communities of Grandover, Sedgefield, Adams Farm and Jamestown. Main tenants are Publix, LeBauer Health Care (Cone Health) and PetSense. Chick-Fil-A will soon be serving customers at Grandover Village as well, adding to all of the attractions that Grandover has to offer.
